I've been helping professionals land jobs since 1995; that’s when I entered the world of executive recruiting. Originally a telecom and media industry marketing executive, I got into this business when I was tapped by a Top 50 national search firm to expand and manage its content division.
After five years there, I went on to co-found Convergence Executive Search, a boutique firm focusing on the broadband sector. My specialty was emerging technologies – something I’d begun working on a few years earlier just as high speed internet was beginning to take hold.
My client portfolio included Time Warner’s RoadRunner business unit, Bloomberg Media, Playboy Entertainment Group, StarzEncore, TiVo, Ericsson Innovations, British Sky Broadcasting, Time Warner Cable, and Comcast Corporation.
Following nearly 10 years in recruiting with hiring companies as my clients, I changed direction a bit and now focus solely on job seekers and helping them become better candidates. My book, The Interview Edge, is a compilation of "insider information" from a recruter's perspective - a comprehensive guide for people who are serious about their careers and want to learn how to gain a competitive advantage.
I also work one-on-one with people to help them become stronger candidates via telephone consults tailored specifically to their needs.
We often concentrate on reworking resumes to achieve better results, but other common topics include why a person might be getting stuck at a certain point during the search process (and how to get "unstuck"), how a candidate can strengthen his or her unique selling proposition, and how to combat age bias - especially in a very tight job market.
If you're interested in the book or a consult, you can get to the main website from here. Meantime, this blog contains a variety of tips and strategies you might find useful. They’re free, and they're yours for the taking. Look around the archives; if you can’t find what you need or have other questions, shoot me an email. There’s a link to my mailbox in the right column of the blog.
Here’s to your success!
Rebecca
