First 1-3 minutes: Initial impression is formed – which, by the way, you can consider engraved in stone. (Which is why it's really, REALLY important to make a positive first impression.)
By the end of 15 minutes: Hiring manager has made a thumbs up/thumbs down decision regarding your candidacy.
The rest of the conversation, whatever length of time: Hiring manager is looking to affirm his decision about you. (In those cases where there’s an early and emphatic thumbs down, the balance of the interview is nothing more than courtesy. You're done...you just don't know it yet.)
Surprised?
In all but a handful of cases, that's the way it goes.
Do you know how to give yourself the best chance of getting a “thumbs up” decision?
